New Trail Design in Tanner Park/Parley's Historic Nature Park
This fall, changes have been made to the design for Parley's Trail through Parley's Historic Nature Park and Tanner Park. Drawings showing the current design and previous design (from the April 2008 public meeting) are available. The trail design that was approved by Salt Lake City will affect off leash dog use in the immediate vicinity of the trail. The PRATT Coalition and Salt Lake County are finalizing the design of the trail and intend to begin construction in Spring 2009. Please follow these links to see the former design, the current plan, and a close-up of the details of the new design.
Please note that Salt Lake City is currently developing a management plan for Parley's Historic Nature Park. Opportunities for public input will be provided as the City develops the management plan.
If you have questions or would like additional information please do not hesitate to contact the consultants at HW Lochner. If you would like to comment on the trail design change, please send your comments.

The Draw at Sugar House Needs Funding
Download the Fundraising Brochure (large file - may take a long time to download)
Safety-The Draw will create a safe way for pedestrians to get across the busy street of 1300 East, encouraging walkers, runners, and cyclists to get more exercise.
Connection-The Draw will connect Sugar House Park, Hidden Hollow, and the Sugar House business district via a beautiful pedestrian underpass.

Purpose-The Draw is an integral part of the Parley's Rails and Trails Coalition's efforts to link the Bonneville Shoreline Trail on the east with the Jordan River Parkway Trail eight miles to the west. Labels: Fundraising, Miscellaneous, The Draw, Updates
Major PRATT Initiatives
Parley's Trail is a massive project, which will be tackled in stages. The top priority for the PRATT Coaltion at this time is the completion of the Draw at Sugar House, a pedestrian crossing connecting Sugar House Park, Hidden Hollow, and the Sugar House Business District, via a canyon-like passageway or "draw," under 1300 East Street.
Stages are explained in this Word document.

Open House Display
On April 02, 2008 at the Open House at Sons of Utah Pioneers headquarters, consultants from H.W. Lochner gathered comments about the conceptual alignment of the trail from Parley's to the parking lot at Tanner Park. Participants also commented on issues regarding how the trail will interact with current uses of the Park; fencing and connections in to the park; and possible impacts on the surrounding neighborhood.
To view the alignment presented at the open house, CLICK HERE(Please be patient; it is a large file and takes a minute to download.) Based upon feedback from the community, the consultants are making some adjustments to the Trail design. Advisory to Trail Users - Crossing at I-215,
As of Friday September 21st, 2007, the bicycle and pedestrian bridge over I-215 is complete. Bikers please be advised that the pavement currently ends just west of the I-215 bridge in the Parleys Historic Nature Park. The next section of trail (to about 2700 East at Tanner Park) is currently being designed and construction should be complete by Fall 2008. The trail will connect to bike lanes on 2700 South and 1700 East. If you choose to ride or walk through the park on the existing gravel road (not suitable for road bikes), please be courteous to park users and off-leash dogs. Labels: Updates
