Secretary/Treasurer Report

We did not have a quorum of board members, so the March, April, and May minutes will be approved next month and there was no treasurer’s report.

Project Updates:

900 West to the Jordan River Parkway

Juan has requested that Madeline supply PRATT with a construction schedule for the 900 West bridge.  Wadsworth Construction will be building the bridge/trail to the JR Parkway.  Juan has also requested that we be allowed to place signage indicating Parley’s Trail on the bridge.

Board Business

There is nothing new to report regarding the proposed gas station for the Sizzler parcel near the Draw.

20th East will be closed during freeway construction through the month of June.  Parley’s Trail will stay open during construction, but riders will not be able to leave the trail and go north on 20th East.

       Signage Updates

·         The banner sign on the bridge over 20th East has been repaired.

·         Lynn has placed temporary directional signs throughout the Sugar House business district.

·         South Salt Lake has placed signs on the Millcreek Trail.  There will be directional signs leading to Parley’s Trail.

New Board Business

Lance will add an acknowledgement to all those who were instrumental in acquiring funds for completion of the trail to our website.  Juan will get a list of those people and departments to Lance.

There was discussion regarding a groundbreaking ceremony for the final section of the trail.  Sharen and Juan will work on a PR event to celebrate the start of construction. Juan will also reach out to West Valley City regarding the new bridge.

Follow ups

We will be getting an updated bid for the memorial bench.  Sharen has contact information for benches that range in price from $1000-1500 including shipping. PRATT would like to place a plaque memorializing Suzanne Weaver.  Sally got prices that range from $50 for aluminum to $220 for a metal plaque.

The new stencils for painting our logo on the trail have been ordered.

The Draw cleanup was rained out on Earth Day. The area is very weedy with some shrubs and weeds extending over the trail. Juan spoke to Walt Gilmore from SL County about a future date for a cleanup with help from the county.

Sally is continuing to pursue the naming of the Olson Grove in Hidden Hollow so that a plaque can be placed near the area.

The goat head eradication project will start again in June.  Sally will be sending a group email to the volunteers and will start distributing the new hand tools that were acquired by Soren.  South Salt Lake city crews will start working on the trail in SSL.

Announcement

Sharen announced that South Salt Lake is holding Mural Fest on Saturday May 14th. She also shared a map showing the location of the murals.
